Project Description

The Currant Creek Project, a combined-cycle combustion turbine plant, is being constructed in two phases by PacifiCorp. The Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract was awarded to Stone & Webster, Inc a subsidiary of the Shaw Group Inc. The first phase includes installation of two simple-cycle gas turbines, totaling 280 megawatts, timed for 2005 summer customer demand. In the second phase, two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) and a steam turbine will be installed. These additional equipment installations will increase the capability of the project by 245 megawatts (for a total of 525-megawatt) and would be made available for the 2006 summer customer demand. The project site is located about 75 miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Teton is contracted by Shaw/Stone & Webster and is responsible for erection of 2 Vogt HRSG's which consists of 10 tube bundle modules (EA), LP Drums, IP Drums, HP Drums, Section I piping, Platforms, grating, stairtowers, and associated equipment. Teton is erecting the HRSG modules using a Manitowoc 4600 ringer. This will enable Teton to lift and tail the modules with the same crane. In addition, the crucial area between the HRSG's will remain open to facilitate work. Once the HRSG's are installed Teton is responsible for pressure testing and chemical cleaning.
